Fellow Authors...
This weekend, I attended DARA and then went to a Book Signing which included the amazing Candace Havens.  Every time I gather with my fellow writers, I am awed by the collective enthusiasm and support we give each other.  We root for each other and freely share advice on ideas and ways to improve our work.  I am glad to be on this journey within such a terrific community of talented people.

OPERATION: AFTER-LIFE, INDIE AWARD FINALIST
I recently found out that Operation: After-Life was a finalist in the 2009 Next Generation Indie Book Awards!  It was thrilling news and a terrific opportunity.  I continue to be encouraged by the wonderful and gracious reviews posted by readers of OPERATION: AFTER-LIFE -- THANK YOU SO MUCH!  Also, I am forging ahead with the marketing of Magical Makeover and keeping my fingers crossed.  Currently, I'm working on a Native American based story about a heroine who is a lightening caller and a hero who is a storm maker - an electrifying match made in heaven.  My critique partner, Diane O'Brien Kelly helps keep me on track and I am forever appreciative of her advice, humor and fortitude.

1st Annual Mansfield Writes and new review!
I was asked to speak at the 1st Annual Mansfield Writes author panel in early November in conjunction with National Author Day.  I had an absolute blast!  The event, sponsored by the Friends of the Mansfield Library was beautifully organized by Diane O'Brien Kelly.  I had the good fortune to meet and serve on the panel with Rachel Caine, Carole Nelson Douglas, P.N. Elrod and many other talented authors.  Also, I received another terrific review, this one from The Long and the Short of It.  There's a link to the full review on my home page, please check it out.  You'll find words like "gripping" and "eagerly turning the pages" - it's exciting to be receiving favorable reviews on Operation: After-Life

Operation: After-Life

It's 24 meets the Medium in this fast-paced, high stakes thriller!

It's a volatile mix when seasoned, no-nonsense FBI Special Agent Nathan West is forced to work with Aubrey Scott, a quirky, freethinking spirit medium who's in way over her head.  Despite their polar opposite views, clashing wills and reluctant but fiery attraction, Nate and Aubrey must pool their skills to stop a terrorist attack of cataclysmic proportions.  Facing the worst bio-terrorism threat in U.S. history with a mere 72 hours until bombs explode releasing a deadly virus into the water systems of seven major cities, millions of lives hang in the balance.  Only the man who planted the delivery devices knows their locations and that man has just been murdered!

Excerpt:

“Okay, Ms. Scott, show me what you’ve got.” Assuming the ready position, Nate held his hand before him, slapping it open and shut, giving her a curt signal to come at him and attack.

“No problem, sir.”

Rising to the challenge, she warily crept toward him and they began circling each other. She managed to get in a few darn good kicks, parries, blocks and what she thought were a couple of convincingly threatening shouts, not to mention an impressive defensive roll before he knocked her flat on her butt.

Special Agent West pinned her to the floor, once again, straddling her prone body. For a moment, Aubrey couldn’t catch her breath, initially from the jolt of being knocked to the ground, but then because of the weight and heat of Nate on the middle of her body and her body’s lightning fast and traitorous response.

His blue eyes pierced her, reminding her of a white tiger’s eyes every bit the predator stalking his prey, and she guessed that made her the gazelle at the watering hole. Like prey stunned into paralysis, she stared at him immobilized with a wide-eyed, fixed gaze.

He vaulted up and reached down to give her a hand. The force of his tug to pull her up propelled her forward and she fell hard against him. He caught her in his arms. She gulped audibly, looking up into his face, her body once again pressed against his. She found herself unable to catch her breath as she felt hard evidence that told her his body was responding to hers in a big way as well.

“If you keep throwing yourself at me like this,” Nate said in a guttural purr, his hot breath mingling with hers, “I’m going to think you want my body and—” his smile was wicked with promise as he moved his mouth closer to her ear, “I’m going to give it to you.”
